What is Obesity:-
Obesity
is a common group of metabolic syndrome. When the body consumes more calories
than the body requires, the excess calories are stored in the body in the form
of fat, which exceeds the normal physiological requirements, and when it
reaches a certain value, it becomes obesity. It is a condition wherein the body
fat increases excessively. The two major causes of obesity are overeating and
inactivity/lack of exercise.
Obesity is a
treatable and manageable disease with having an excess amount of body fat. It
is caused by genetic and environmental factors and can be difficult to control
through dieting alone.
Obesity is a chronic medical disease that can lead to diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity-associated
cardiovascular diseases such as heart disease, gallstones, and other chronic
illnesses. It is a risk factor even for some cancers. Sometimes people are
unable to find a solution to it.
Obesity
is becoming a serious threat to public health in the 21st century.
BEFORE AFTER
Sometimes confusion arises in between Chubby, Fat,
Flabby, Large, Obese, and Overweight. But
all these are different. Differences and
comparisons have been shown as below:-
Differences and comparisons between chubby, fat, flabby,
large, obese, and overweight:-
Chubby means fat in a cute way. Chubby is cute; fat not so attractive. Usually chubby is just slightly overweight.
Fat means having more adipose tissue. Fat is Obese.
Fat is rather a state of mind of someone who feels that they want to get rid of
their excess weight
Flabby means when you have fat which hangs, like from
the forearms.
Large means fat as well as tall.
Obese means are heavier than
overweight. According to WHO It's BMI (Body Mass Index) is greater than
or equal to 30. Obesity means having too much body fat. Obesity may harm
health, leading to reduced life expectancy and/or increased health conditions.
Overweight means heavier than normal
weight. Overweight means weighing too much.
But both Obesity and
Overweight terms mean that a person’s weight is greater than considerable.
The BMI (Body Mass Index) is calculated from the equation weight (kg)/height (m) squared. The
normal weight range is 18.5 - 24.99. Overweight is 25 to 29.99 and obesity is
defined as over 30. Generally, the lower your BMI the more likely you will be
healthy and live longer.
When you are
overweight, you are very fat, but not obese. Overweight is still bad. When you
are obese, you are more than overweight, and it is more life-threatening.
