Prayer means you are trying to talk to God. Prayer must come from the heart and when it does it always brings magic.. By prayer you develop a true relation with God or to whom you pray.
Prayer is recitation of the Holy verses we learnt or those lines which our parents taught us when they inculcated the concept of God in us.
Most humans prayer in two cases :-
Either out of fear from God or when we need something from Him.
It's natural to have our closed ones in our thoughts even when we are away from them.
Meditation means you are willing to listen to God. As I understand it, breathing is meant to clear the mind, to bring a person to a place of clarity, letting go of everything but at the present moment. You may go deeper and deeper into this to a point where you think you have fallen asleep - but you haven’t. You have just accomplished moving your awareness away from the body, away from your thoughts and into a wonderful space. I would say, you are now in soul consciousness.Meditation is the single practice which can change your life forever.
In Meditation we bless ourself.
Difference between Meditation & Prayer :
PRAYER
Prayer is when you talk to GOD.
Prayer is more of a religious thing .
Prayer is asking.
prayer means you are telling God what to do. You think you are God’s consultant.
Prayer involves certain steps to communicate with God, the believer and the Divine.
- Faith is of utmost importance that the Divine has has great powers and can help through miracles. It is associated with care, kindness, love, compassion and of course mercy.
- Attention is towards an inner representation of the Divine.
- Supplication is seeking the intervention of the Divine to meet a need/desire or answer a question.
- Response means listening within for a response to the prayer/petition or like feeling that the Divine has entered within to communicate with your spirit/soul. This may be in the form of a dialogue where questions are asked and perceived responses are received.
- Thanking/ Gratitude is for response to your prayers now or subsequently when fulfilled. Person feels blessed.
- Returning to the present surroundings like waking up.
In prayer, you are doer.
MEDITATION
Meditation is when GOD talks to you
Meditation is more of a spiritual practice.
Meditation is receiving
Meditation means you just shut up. If you just shut up, everything that needs to happen will happen to you.
- Meditation witnesses, studies, or interacts with whatever is visualized at the focal point of attention. (It does not require faith.)
- Meditation asks for information through inner dialogue methods or inquiry.( No supplication)
- It may use evocation, seeking answers to the questions from the Soul/ Inner self , a nucleus of identity, an inner form of the unconscious mind or to a spiritual guide.
- It involves listening and receiving guidance from an entity that is evoked. It may also engage in dialogue with the entity that is evoked.
- Meditation has a grounding/returning stage as you get placed out of current surroundings. After each meditation, the attention slowly returns to normal waking/ awareness again.
- Meditation may use chanting to call upon/ focus the attention upon one of the forms of the Divine.( But it does not utilize thanksgiving/ gratitude or worship.)
- Meditation may utilize auric reception, or receiving the Light from a spiritual Master etc from the Divine. ( Somewhat like the reception blessings.)
- Light reception is called Initiation, Shaktipat, or Light Immersion.
In Meditation, You are the viewer of the door.
